UK FOLK MUSIC ONLINE SHOPPING
From the end of April 2014 the UK Folk Music website will cease to continue as a magazine and will become an online store for all things acoustic.
We will offer a wide choice of musical instruments and music accessories – everything from acoustic guitars and stringed instruments to free reed instruments – melodeons / concertinas through to percussion and amplification.
Please bear with us while we complete the changeover, which we anticipate can be completed within the time period.
Keep up with some of the folk music news we feature on the UK Folk Music website. We are always pleased to receive stories about the UK Folk Scene | Folk Clubs | Performers. If you’d like to write for us or review CD’s, why not get in touch. CONTACT PAGE
UK Folk Music continues to support and encourage folk clubs and concert venues around the U.K.
Our folk club list covers a huge number of venues but we can always add more if you let us have details. We believe that the folk clubs are still an essential part of the folk scene in Britain and provide great entertainment, a sociable gathering and support for the many folk music artists who rely on venues to be able to display their talent. Please support your local folk club.
Pete Fyfe is one of the most respected CD Reviewers on the folk scene and he is published on many other websites and is featured on album reviews on Amazon.
Since early in 2012, we have been delighted to carry Pete’s witty and well informed reviews on the website. He is one of those guys that has been around the scene for simply ages and he seems to know everyone, he’s also a pretty good musician too and well qualified to comment on new releases.
We have a Featured Artists Section on the website. The pages will have information links and media and will spotlight performers from the folk scene.
The Featured artists video for this month is The Fishwives Choir who brought out a video and CD in support of a really good cause - The Fishermen’s Mission Charity
If artists or promoters would like to have a feature please get in touch.
We are delighted to be able to host some great folk music shows on UK Folk Music. Back at the start of 2012 we dipped a toe into the water with a pilot show hosted by Alan Morley and called FolkRise. The show grew and featured some talented but ‘lesser known artists’ who populate the folk scene.
On May 1st 2012, we were able to bring back BBC Radio Derby’s Folkwaves presented as ever by Mick Peat and Lester Simpson.
The shows are available via the website and we hope you’ll listen and enjoy the programmes. Please share with your friends on Facebook and Twitter.
